Wir machen Musik! We’re making music!
The Germania Blaskapelle performs music that would typically be heard at a German, Austrian or Swiss village band concert. Much of our music comes from the Oktoberfest tradition. We are a subgroup of the German American Societies in San Diego. The band is always looking for new musicians and individuals wishing to help out with music at the club. Currently we need French Horn and Trombone players as well as a couple more baritones (Tenorhorns).
Join us for a Spring Concert on March 21: Frühlingsfest
Rehearsals take place most Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Club (unless otherwise posted). Band members may bring guests with them to rehearsal, and the bar is usually open for their convenience.
Germania Blaskapelle will generally program at least two concerts a year at the German Club. Outside of club concerts, members will have the opportunity to perform at local band festivals and community events and will have the option to travel to Las Vegas in January for the weekend-long German American Mardi Gras Association (GAMGA) festival – an exhibition that draws German Clubs from around the United States, Canada and beyond!

To join the band, musicians must be able to read music, and they must bring their own instrument and music stand to rehearsal. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up and tear-down for events, to assist with fundraising events, and also to serve as officers on the
Steering Committee. Playing members can also be on the Steering Committee.
If you would like more information about the group, stop by the Club on a Wednesday evening, or email your questions to GermaniaBlaskapelleSD@gmail.com and we will get back to you.
NOTE: If you are interested in joining the Blaskapelle, you must first be a member of the German American Societies of San Diego. Click HERE to learn more and start the process.
