Springtime Festivities

Karneval season has come to an end, which means the Club is gearing up for a new season of events to welcome in a musical and magical March, April and May!

First up is a Germania Blaskapelle concert – Frühlingsfest der Musik– featuring German Schlager tunes as well as pop-style hits, opera classics, and big band style arrangements of American favorites. The event takes place in our Clubhouse, located at 1017 S. Mollison Avenue in El Cajon, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., an optional dinner at 6 p.m., and the concert at 7:30 p.m. Club members receive a $5 discount on this fundraising activity for our very one in-house band.

View the flyer for additional information and click here when you are ready to peruse ticket options. You can also follow the event on Facebook.

In April, our German Theater Group will be hosting a new production over two days – April 25 and 26. Last year’s show drew big crowds and rave reviews:

“Es war wirklich fantastisch, was ihr auf die Beine gebracht habt!  Alle eure Akteure waren wunderbar! – Monika

“Ganz toll, gratuliere Euch allen, sooo ein Erfolg und alles in deutscher Sprache – super!” – Christy

“Eure Aufführung war einfach genial. Ich bin schlichtweg begeistert. Danke für den tollen Abend!” – Claudia L.

The German Theater Group was founded in 2016 with 13 interested people – and it has since grown to several dozen dedicated and enthusiastic actors, singers, and backstage volunteers. To learn more about this team of talented individuals, hear about upcoming rehearsals, and get details on shows, visit their website.

In May, we welcome back our half-way-to-Oktoberfest celebration: Maifest. From noon until 7 p.m. on May 15, we will we filling our Biergarten with shopping booths, crafts, traditional German drinks and cuisine, and a designated kid zone with games and prizes. Bands and dancers will take center stage with special performances for your enjoyment.

Maifest is fun for all ages, and admission is just $5 – or free for kids, active-duty and retired Military, and Club members. Follow along as we post updates and ticket info to the event web page and on Facebook.

That’s just a teaser of what’s to come; expect to learn about more musical activities and celebrations taking place at the Club before summer. If you have questions about the German American Societies of San Diego, please contact our manager, Claudia, at manager@germanclubsandiego.org.
